The cold has finally settled in on Seoul. I tried to ignore it for as long as I could, the way we always do by insisting on wearing summer clothing way past the point where it makes sense. I knew that the Seoul Lantern Festival had begun downtown at the Cheonggyecheon River, but there was a whole lot of college football on TV and again, it was cold outside.

I was reminded by my better half that my time in Korea is coming to an end and that I had been less than attentive to my duties as an erstwhile travel/ photo blogger, so I was out the door and into the chilly night.

As usual my traveller's blood began to flow, albeit slightly chilled, when I hit the subway and once I began to walk around this once-covered miracle of modern development, adorned the the baubles of skilled artisans, there was nothing left to do but shoot photos.

The Koreans are a hearty folk and they were out and about despite the cold to see the wonders of their ever-improving city. They know how to keep warm, by fueling up on food and drink before heading out, and by having plenty of both available at any outdoor event. On the way to the river, I stopped in at the Tomatillo Mexican Grill and had a very decent quesadilla if I do say so myself. It warmed me well and fortified me for a very nice night out.
